Compassion on Wheels: A community united by universal transportation access
Who We Are
What We Do
Who We Serve
Rural Alternative for Transportation (RAFT) operates thanks to the dedication of community volunteers who are passionate about improving the lives of individuals without access to transportation. Whether you can commit to one ride a week or a hundred rides a month, your time and compassion make a real difference—and your schedule is entirely up to you!
Provide door-to-door rides for seniors and adults with disabilities living in the Berthoud Fire Protection District. RAFT helps residents reach medical care, work, education, community events, and social/emotional outings.
RAFT serves seniors (60+) and adults 18–59 with a verified disability who live within the Berthoud Fire Protection District. Service focuses on rural residents who need safe, door-to-door rides to medical care, essentials, work, education, and community activities.

What People Say About RAFT
Thank God for RAFT! My life would be so dismal without them! Very caring individuals who contribute their time to helping others. PS. My children also appreciate the independence I have gained from this program

RiderI was stuck at home watching TV all day while my wife worked. Once RAFT had a PARA van I could go to the Senior Center and have coffee with friends or to the bank. I was even able to buy flowers for my wife for our 50th anniversary!

RiderI tried to get a ride to therapy and it was going to cost me $67 one way. A round trip would have been $137. No way could I pay this three times a week!

RiderI broke my leg and RAFT helped me and my caretaker to go to orthopedic appointments in Loveland. The drivers were on time, professional and interesting to talk to. It is a comfort to know you are there

RiderThank you so very much for your service. My mom is so blessed by not only your service, but by your drivers! They are such a blessing. A highlight to my mom's week

RiderEveryone I have dealt with is polite, friendly, and nice – I really don’t know how I would have gotten to Dr. appointments without them. They (and you) are wonderful!
